ROLE OVERVIEW
The Solutions Architect –
Cloud Platforms serves as the technical lead driving the organization’s
cloud strategy and architecture across infrastructure, applications, and
operations. This role focuses heavily on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and
modern cloud practices, ensuring scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions
are delivered to support innovation, transformation, and business agility.
The
role will also be expected to contribute to technical documentation, mentor
team members, and participate in project planning and implementation.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Define and
continuously refine the company’s cloud computing strategy, ensuring alignment
with business goals and emerging technologies.
2.
Act as the
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud-native solutioning, providing technical
leadership in R&D, architecture design, and evaluation of new cloud
services
3.
Lead TCO
analysis and architectural reviews for infrastructure, network, and application
workloads to guide cloud adoption and optimization decisions.
4.
Oversee and
foster innovation on cloud technologies including account provisioning,
compute, storage, databases, serverless, and network ensuring compliance with
security, performance, operational best practices and well architected
frameworks.
5.
Architect and
implement high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and observability
solutions using AWS-native services.
6.
Develop and
maintain reference architectures and cloud engineering standards to guide
technology selection and implementation across teams.
7.
Provide
strategic advisory for cloud modernization, digital transformation, and DevOps/
SRE enablement initiatives and lead onboarding of new services to cloud using
IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and XaaS models, ensuring scalability, security, and
compliance.
8.
Participate
in annual technology planning, identifying areas for innovation, technical debt
remediation, and architectural refresh and recommend cost optimization
strategies, including billing transparency, contract renewals, and usage
tracking.
9.
Support
project planning, quality assurance, and stakeholder engagement across business
and technology domains.
10.
Define and
enforce cloud governance frameworks, including infrastructure policies &
guardrails, security guidelines, and operational SOPs.
11.
Design
fault-tolerant, scalable, and high-performance architectures for both
monolithic and microservices-based applications.
12.
Ensure
adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS
CloudFormation, and AWS CDK to automate provisioning and configuration.
Cloud Architecture &
Engineering
1. Lead onboarding new services to cloud using IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and
XaaS models, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.
2. Architect and implement high availability (HA), disaster recovery
(DR), and observability solutions using AWS-native services:
§ Amazon EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda
§ Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB
§ Amazon S3, S# Glacier, EFS, FSx
§ CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Backup, Route 53
§ API Gateway, App Mesh, CloudFront, etc
3. Define and enforce cloud governance frameworks, including
infrastructure policies, security guidelines, and operational SOPs.
4. Design fault-tolerant, scalable, and high-performance
architectures for both monolithic and microservices-based applications.
5. Ensure adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as
Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS CDK to automate provisioning and
configuration and foster adoption of integration to CI/CD pipelines using tools
like CodePipeline, CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
6. Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to embed DevSecOps
practices, automated testing, and monitoring into the delivery lifecycle.
